go to the cinema more often (read all 5 entries…)
Let's all go to the Lobby!

I LOVE going to the cinema.

I think I can almost certainly name every last movie that I’ve been to see in the cinema – that’s how few times I’ve been to the movies.

Snow White (Sudbury) c. 1980
Kuffs (Colchester) 1992
The Bodyguard (Bury St Edmunds) unsure of date
Speed (Colchester) 1993 or 4
Interview With The Vampire (Colchester) 1993 or 4
Fellowship of the Ring (Colchester) 2002
Harry Potter 1 (Colchester) 2002
Ice Age (Bristol Warner Village) 2002
I, Robot (Colchester) 2004
The Incredibles (Brighton) 2004
National Treasure (Brighton) 2004
Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (Colchester) 2005

And that’s it! So I think you’ll agree, I need to go more, because I enjoy the experience so much now! I used to find it difficult, but no longer!

Comments:

Hmm, I think people in general are going to start going out to movies less and less, if the theaters don’t quit being so greedy and charging $9 for tickets, $6 for popcorn, and $4.50 for soda… That’s bad enough for just one person going by themselves, now just imagine how much it is for a whole family to go together… It’s just ridiculous, and people are going to either keep sneaking in their own food and drinks or else stop going altogether.

Thrifty Visits to the Movies

I don’t think it will stop me and my boyfriend – we enjoy the experience too much to let it go by the wayside.

The trick to a cheaper visit to the movies is to either go without snack food or smuggle some into the theatre. Have you read Kevin Murphy’s book “A Year at the Movies”? He smuggled a whole Thanksgiving dinner into his local moviehouse AND got away with it. Another tip is to go earlier in the day – my local cinemas do cheaper tickets before a certain time :-)
