Record multiple shows simultaneously

I want to build a PVR with multiple tuners so that I can record multiple shows (as many as 4) simultaneously.

Theory
I don’t know how long it will take, it’s all theoritical at this point. I am assembling the necessary materials. I am going to try using four tv receiver boards in the same pc, probably a linux box, using some open source pvr software.

Interesting Idea
I currently use multiple VCRs to accomplish this. It’d be nice to be able to have it all in one box though. It’s been a year now. Have you created your prototype yet?

Glad I followed you on this thread which is part of an interesting goal. Never knew that “tech hacking” went this far beyond ‘puters.

And, very cool name, Monkeyboy! : ) As you can guess, all things Primate delight me.
I have absolutely no techie skills or abilities and have huge respect and awe for people who do. I hope you’re able to successfully complete this goal, and then that you’ll make multiples and sell them at low, low prices to your 43Things friends. Like me. : )
But seriously: good luck on this goal. I wish I were able to do things of a technical nature.
