I am just reading The Tortilla Curtain by T.C. Boyle. It’s about the parallel worlds in California: The one of Mexican immigrants and the one of the white middle class. Boyle describes how and with what effect these cultures clash.
At the beginning, I really liked the book, but now I am beginning to think that Boyle’s view is too stereotypical. Also, I have the impression that a slightly different angle, an angle that highlights how racial hatred evolves, could have improved the book.
