work for awareness of HIV/AIDS (read all 5 entries…)
Untitled 3 years ago

I went to a volunteer information session this morning with the Colorado AIDS Project. It was wonderful—this is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I may go on to take some more specific training courses and receive certification as an HIV Prevention Generalist. I will certainly staff some outreach events this summer.

The most somber exhibit

I have ever seen was the Aids Quilt Expo that traveled around the country in the 90’s. I cried as I looked at quilts made by family and friends for their loved ones…babies, grandmothers, men and women.
There were people taking turns reading names over the loud speaker.

It is heartbreaking to think so many people die from AIDS each year.

It is a very misunderstood disease. It takes special people to work in AIDS outreach. Good luck!

When I was delivering Meals on Wheels many volunteers refused (out of fear) to take meals to AIDS patients. They missed out on meeting some very special souls.

Amy has gotten 3 cheers on this entry.
