my fish tank has algae on the glass that needs to be scraped off. I only need to do it once a month or so, but for some reason I never get around to it
Comments:
You should get a plecostomus (known generally as plecos) they’re great for cleaning up the algae. One of my tanks used to get such bad algae, it was hard to see the fish if I didn’t clean it every 2 weeks or so… I got a pleco, it cleaned up all the algae withing a few days and the glass has been perfectly clean ever since :) Check the variety you get though, some kinds are better in tropical (clown plecos) whereas some are ok in cold water as long as the water’s not really cold (common pleco)... Wow, I write too much…
yea, I used them but they ate my live plants. There’s only one variety of algea eater that didn’t also eat my plants, it’s called a Siamese Algae eater, crosochielius siamensis (prolly spelled that wrong) and they’re hardly ever sold at the local fish stores.
That is true they do like munching plants… But I just replace the ones they eat and give them algae wafers as well, that seems to make them eat less of the plants… I used to have a siamese algae eater, it might have just been because it was smaller than the pleco but it didn’t seem to get rid of much of the algae at all…
