Be fluent in Xhosa
Untitled 3 years ago

A couple of months back, I was working as a waitress where most of the staff are Xhosa speakers. So, they’d mostly speak Xhosa as their English is terrible. I thought it could only help me to learn their language. It’ll make my job easier and it’ll really make working there more enjoyable. I was so right!

But now, it’s very tough as I found a new job (office type) and my interaction with Xhosa speakers is virtually nil. But, now I feel motivated to persist!

Way to Go!!! So...

... you got all the clicks & everything down? It’s one of my goal languages too! But, I dare say it isn’t one of the easier languages to learn.

Amandla!!! (that’s Xhosa for Power!)

Peace & Blessings… aisha

DUH...

... just noticed you are in Cape Town! Now I have to go check out your whole profile…

Hey!

How far along are you with your goal?

Since I left working at Kauai, I’ve actually also lost all interest in learning Xhosa….Oy vey.

Where in CT are you?

Hamba Kakushle (I think)

Nowhere, really!

No one here to speak it with or to help me learn – it isn’t exactly a top language at most universities…lol! But, it was always my thought that I would just spend extended time in one place with folks who spoke it to learn… that’s my great idea for most languages I want to pick up!
