Hike the Long Trail
Untitled 4 years ago

We did a 2 day section hike of the long trail sometime last year. It was my first ‘backpacking’ I’ve done. Before that I’ve only done a few day hikes. I’ve got to say it was extremly fun. The terrain is tough, rocky, and lots of verticel. I think it’s something that I’ll eventually do. I’m not sure If I’ll do it via section, or through. Through hiking it would be unbelievable.

Where is this Long Trail?

Not the Appalachian Trail?

What would be the difficulties in doing a “through hike?” Just would like to see your thought processes on this.

Have you identified food pickup points? Have you estimated total cost, including transportation there and what you would lose through not working what you’re being paid now?

Have you considered getting corporate and non-corporate sponsors?

No, not the app... but

The southern part of the long trail is part of the AT. For more info you can check it out here:

It’s basically a trail that runs vt north/south. It’s about a 3 week trek, so It’s totally doable as a trough hike, but not with out some serious prep. I haven’t given completing it much serious thought as I know it’ll be at least a few years before I can even contemplate it. This year I’m spending my vacation on my honeymoon, and a trip to the cape. But… since it’s duration is only 3 weeks it’s totally doable as a vacation, not a leave of absence from work. As for sponsors, I hadn’t even considered it, are you offering? If I were to consider such a thing, it would be for a cause, rather than for supporting myself. Thanks for making me think about this a little more, maybe I can sketch it into a future vacation.

This is a great goal and I really hope you can do it. Being in nature for any fairly extended period of time would be wonderful and I hope you follow through. Best of luck!

Hey

I’m happy to lend an ear to any planning processes. I have a pretty good grip on it now!

Aaron has gotten 4 cheers on this entry.
