Find my purpose in life (read all 4 entries…)
What do i need to do before i am in my rocking chair?

Let me imagine im 90 years old sat in my rocking chair looking back over my life. What was my purpose, what has it all been about? Why was i put here?

To me this is very personal. Everyone’s reason is different. I feel that at 90 years old what i must have done is run my own animal shelter, i must have saved children in africa and i must have had my own family and happy marriage.

I must be abundant in every aspect of my life, spiritually, financially , emotionally, in my relationships. I want to help as many people and inspire in my lifetime. I want to have been really successful and a good person too!

I want to travel the world, go to fiji, fly a plane, cuddle a lion cub, work with tigers, get lasik. Fulfill all my dreams!

hmmm

I am trying to plan my life too. I think my opinions changed when I made friends with a millionaire. He told me to do the rocking chair test and think about what I’d like my life to have been. And he also said “If you could do whatever you want with guaranteed success, what would it be?” I was saying all these things like “buy land, travel etc.” Then I asked him what he would do. He smiled and said “I’d get up and go to work.”

After picking myself up from the floor I realised what he meant. He’d taken chances, and been rewarded. He didn’t need to change a damned thing because he was doing what he LOVED every day. So on his last day on Earth he’d want to be doing exactly what he was doing already. And he believes happiness and compassion are the greatest qualities human beings possess. And that everyone has a purpose and limitless abilites…

...Incidentally, Tony is now a mentor and friend, but he’s one of the happiest people I know (irritatingly Pollyanna-ish at times.) So with the rocking chair test, he told me to spend a good solid hour thinking about what I wanted, and to write it all down (43 things is the perfect place). I have yet to take an hour, but it’s something to think about I guess. My purpose is to be that happy!

PS

It will be 2075 when I am 90!
