switch to apple (read all 3 entries…)
May not be necessary afterall...

With my objective research, I’ve come to the realization that this switch may not be necessary afterall. Yeah, the praises of apple are worthy but that’s called marketing. WIth apple switching to Intel chips, my sources tell me that the gap between the OSX and Windows XP worlds are narrowing and with what I do right now, I’m better off stcking with windows.

Will try Apple some day.

Mac

I understand Mac is better for creative, artistic purposes, such as PHOTOSHOP! teehee

yes, but...

Apple is now basically BSD Unix underneath, so pretty robust, also – being Unix – a good development environment for the web (and apparently, software in general), like Linux. And it looks pretty and doesn’t really attract viruses.

Unfortunately...

It’s really not about the processor. It’s about the operating system. I use Windows on Intel architecture for work, and Apple at home. I am eagerly awaiting when I can use OSX on Intel architecture – there’ll be dramatic improvements in battery life, not to mention niftier industrial design. :) (And with any luck, we’ll be able to use them at work by then, too. Entirely possible.)

I reboot my Apple machine every time I do an OS upgrade, or the rare instances when there’s something that needs to be patched. My latest-version-of-XP, 6 month old work laptop – it has to be rebooted at least once a week, or memory leaks and other issues turn it into a slug.

My son’s Mac laptop (which is not online) hasn’t been rebooted in a couple of months. And that was due to him accidentally spilling a bottle of water into the keyboard. :^(
