build up the Dance Front (read all 3 entries…)
June 9th, 2005: The Dance Front

On June 9th, my friend Lauren and i went to two different shows at two different venues in two different cities. i am pretty impressed with that (we saw M.I.A., LCD Soundsystem, Thunderbirds are Now! and Enon) but even more impressive is the fact that we were dancing the entire time, from seven pm to one am.

now, at the enon/thunderbirds show, my friend maddy pointed this kid out to us. he was wearing a crazy shirt (mallard print!) and was basically the only other person in the room not just standing and staring at the band in the pose we all know and love, called the “indie salute”

after the show, maddy and i were waiting for lauren’s consumerism to end and i saw the mallard shirt kid, so i tapped his shoulder as he was running out and said “nice dancing, man!!” or something equally retarded, but he turned around and we talked for a few minutes about wonderful things: elephant six bands, shows and DANCING! we decided to form a collective known as “The Dance Front,” a group of friends and strangers and lovers who attend shows and dance like crazy for the entire show (as we tend to do normally) and try to get the head-boppers to join in on the dancing/rockin out/joy.

he left to catch the T, but then 15 minutes later he walked back into T.T.s…he had missed the last one…and he lived about a 2 hour walk away. we hung out for awhile, and walked with him the half hour that our ways converged. he told his story, we shared some of ours, it was lovely. we planned to meet at the bon savants show next weekend, but we realized that if he does come, he will probably miss the T again. what to do? i say jesse should move to the city. hopefully he’ll be there and the dance front will be well on it’s way!

Comments:

dancing is for awesome people

that night was incredible. not only did we ignite the phenomenon henceforth recognized as the most influential moment in the boston scene history (lets make that a reality, please)... but we ROCKED OUT. wooo! clickers tomorrow… for the last time. can’t let that opportunity slip away.
