Modern and Simple -- too much to ask?

Every day that I drive through my home town of Atlanta, I see new subdivisions being erected with million-dollar mini-mansions with 4-8 bedrooms. These homes are destined to be lived in by families of 3-5 people, all look the same, and all try to look like homes that were built many many years ago.
I want a modern home. I want a home that is only as large as I need. I want a home that is efficient. I want a home that looks like it was built for the modern world. I want a home that is well-designed.
