It’s just having the self esteem to know that you can’t be perfect all the time. Some people will find you awkward. Some groups of people you will feel comfortable in, and therefore be less awkward. I’ve come to accept this, and I’ve stopped thinking of myself in negative terms (“I’m so fucking awkward all the time”) and instead I assess the situation before jumping to the conclusion that everyone is better than me, therefore making me awkward in their presence.
