I am from New Hampshire it was April and my boyfriend and I decided to go canoeing. I’m sure you can imagine the water was freezing. Not only the water was cold, but our town was also flooded at the time, and it was raining, and of course we didnt have any life jackets on or with us. My boyfriend decided to start tipping it back in fourth in the middle of our bay which was probably about a 3/4 of a mile from shore. I just started laughing and we were having a good time. Then all the sudden, woops, we’re tipped over. So for about 5 seconds I was still laughing, until I realized this wasn’t good. I had two jackets on, two shirts, and jeans. I couln’t swim very well so I had to try to get everything off. He tried to help me, but one of the jackets wasnt coming all the way undone so we tried to get it off by sliding it down over me, it ended up getting stuck around my legs. I eventually forced it off so I could swim. After that we started swimming, and screaming for help, but why would anybody be out in this weather? It took us about a half an hour to swim in and after about 20 minutes we couldn’t even tell if our arms and legs were moving because they were so numb, all you could hear was yourself breathing, and all I could think of was if I would ever see my house again. When we reached shore at first we couldnt stand up, so we just dragged ourselfs up, then we saw a car going by and screamed for them to stop. The guy took us home. He said luckily his little boy was outside at the other end of the bay and was there to hear us screaming.
The picture is of us a few days after at our prom, im glad we made it :)
