create my own website (read all 2 entries…)
The cobbler's children have no shoes. 3 years ago

The web developer, who even has her own domain name, has no web site. I have owned it since about 1999. I tell myself I should just buy some space and throw something up there…it can always be a work in progress, right?

And then I say to myself, “what the heck would it be about? what would I focus on?” Um, my life story? My writing? Web development? My dogs? And I think about that and go, okay – who would be my audience for this stuff that’s all over the map? I hear crickets chirping. So I do nothing!

Feeling your pain

I understand exactly what you are feeling. A few years ago, I spent a lot of money to take web design classes and even became certified in web design. I designed maybe 2 web sites both of which no longer exist. I, too, wonder what my site would be about. I wrote a blog about it and asked people what they would want to see, and received almost no response. Sad, huh?
I won’t even begin to go into all of the things that I have thought about. So, I continue on while my skills slowly diminish and whither away from non-use.
One thought for you is this: I noticed that you are from Atlanta. I grew up in Atlanta and while I do miss it, I am happy where I am. There have got to be, however, people like me who want to know the goings on in Atlanta but can’t get them because of where we live. Oh sure, there is the AJC, and reading the Vent in the online version of the AJC makes me smile, but you could add something else. What that is, I don’t know. Just a thought.
