I think that Judy Garland was one of the best female movie star singers of all time. As I mentioned in a recent entry, “Over the Rainbow,” from The Wizard of Oz, is one of my all-time favourite movie musical songs.

my favorite Judy Garland scene

is when she sings “You made me love you” to a photograph of Clark Gable, then it turns into a movie montage of Clark Gable with Garland’s voice as a voiceover. The song ends with him grabbing Scarlett and planting that big kiss on her while Atlanta burned. Forgotten now what movie it was. Garland was a little girl with a grown up voice singing to a grown man. Tres interesting.
