It turns out one of them got destroyed when a building opposite piccadilly was demolished, so there’s only 46.

So I downloaded the map from http://www.space-invaders.com and with the help of my trusty assistant we managed to bag 21 of them. It took about 3 hours to do that, so the rest can wait till another weeekend.

So weird that I should stumble across this tonight.

I’ve never heard of this game before, but I saw one of these in Newcastle just this afternoon, and took a photo. My fella also spotted one at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Arts a few months back and we wondered at the time what the hell it was all about. Now we know.

Forgive the shit grainy picture, I have a crappy cameraphone and I was being jostled by emo kids from the nearby Hippie Green.

I knew what it was about

I just wondered whether it was genuine or not. It’s just strange to find one inside an art gallery, especially since he was invited to participate in an exhibition just weeks later. I thought it might have been a tribute by the BALTIC itself.
