It is absolutely worth the effort to be able to play an instrument, I play the flute, clarinet, violin and piano, and I wouldn’t ever give any of them up. If you do exams (like ABRSM or trinity) they are also deeply rewarding and playing can be something to do ‘to pass the time’ because time passes really quickly when you’re playing.
