be less judgmental (read all 4 entries…)
I'm not doing very well at this... 3 years ago

but I guess I’ve learned that people who aren’t at peace in their life can be really judgmental about others. Right now I fully admit I’m not at peace or very happy despite my best efforts. Too much responsibility, not enough resources.

I’m a loving person with a lot of compassion but right now I feel burned out and so I find myself short with people and really cynical. I don’t like it. It doesn’t feel good.

Sometimes...

...I think it’s almost human nature to judge others. And as you say, it’s even harder to avoid when we ourselves are happy. But just know that it’s normal, not good, but normal.

Pajodama is home sweet home :)

Don't judge a book by its cover...

...I like this saying. There was a moment in my life that I used to be so judgemental but I learnt that I was wrong. I’ve learnt through many challenges that we as human beings are far away from perfection. One of the things that has helped me to not to be so judgemental is to think what would I do if I were in the other people’ shoes. As speedracer states in the above entry…”just know that it’s normal, not good, but normal”. Good goal and worth working on it!

Aww. Sometimes the only thing that makes the really wretched times better is-and a few psychologists may kick me for saying this, but-distracting yourself by serving others.
This could mean sending overdue wedding congratulations to a friend, washing your uncle’s hot rod, even finding something to be pleasant about in the DMV, helping in a soup kitchen, being a friend to a kid ... usually this brings positive feelings and a sense that small steps are important.
