be more globally aware

Not sure where to begin  — 2 years ago

I get very frustrated with people when they can’t see another point of view or can’t look beyond their own problems to what’s going on in the world as a whole, but I’m not much better. I mean I know that other countries and places have their issues but I feel like American media doesn’t always give a fair portrayal of what really matters to the other in the rest of the world. I would like to be able to understand why one country might have one reaction to an issue, and another would have a very different one. Maybe I’ll start by trying to read some of the larger newspapers in the US and also watch the BBC news.

One of the good sides of the internet

All media is biased and a little subjective. It really winds me up when they move from facts to a long list of adjectives. Plus whenever something important happens in the UK I always check global newsites because the BBC always seems to be hours behind networks like Reuters or Sky or CNN so basically they allow themselves to be dictated to somewhat by the govenrnment which isn’t surprizing really. It’s one of those situations where the internet really shows up the differences between what people say is going on.
