My own place 3 years ago

It’s in my ten year plan. Of course… I’ll be flexible. ;)
I feel terrible throwing away all this money for rent each month. Hopefully as I settle myself after graduating and into a stable(er.. sort of stable at least?) job — I’ll be able to do something about this goal.

Although… I suppose there are plus’ that the landlord has to fix things and change the batteries in my smoke detector for me… hmm.

I was 36 years when I bought my first house

in fact it is the only house I ever bought. It is a nice feeling to know that THIS belongs to me. You are also correct, however, about things breaking. When I rented and something broke, I called the landlord and told him, “your water heater is broke, and you need to fix it,” now a leaking water heaters become an emotional crises:-)
