thank for the tips. I am a chronic greaser, lol. That is an addiction that I’ll have to over come.

How I did it: I grew out my relaxer for 9 months, and then cut off the relaxed ends. It was totally worth it. My hair has never been healthier. I'll never put another chemical in my hair again.
Lessons & tips: If you choose to grow out your hair, expect the relaxed part to break off. It's just part of the process. You'll eventually have to cut it off anyway. Also, abandon the need to "grease" your scalp. I haven't done it in years and I believe my hair is healthier because of it. Using a comb is also overrated. Most women with natural hair use their fingers to detangle.
Resources: Don't be fooled by the "black hair care products." These products are just marketed to black people, but they contain the same ingredients as any other hair care products. I have had success with shampoos and conditioners from Neutrogena and Fructis. I have VERY thick, kinky hair...if they work on mine, it'll work on anyone. Dr. Bronner's liquid soaps are also fantastic for the skin and hair.

Kika is enjoying the summer!
I have chemical products in my hair since I was 13. Sometimes I think about stop it, but after 3 or 4 months, with my hair breaking, I always give the idea up. I hope I an have some day the courage you had.
Congrats on your success with this . It takes a lot of tme and patience. I gave in and relaxed my crown area and hairline in October because it just started getting to to tangled. But I know that’s just a part of the process. So far no relaxers just trying to be patient. What products did you use when you were transitioning? Did you use shea butter or anything for moisture. ?
speech08 is happy and grateful.
I remember using that Pink Oil Moisturizer stuff in the pink bottle for awhile while I grew my hair out….and gel to keep the edges smooth. It kept my hair managable. It worked for me at the time, but I don’t use oils anymore. You’ll have to do some trial and error in order to find the right products for your hair type.
I have been transitioning for 3 months and I’ve done 2 little chops, resulting in 5 inches of relaxed hair being cut. I am anxious for the big chop but afraid of having a TWA.
How many inches did you have after 9 months of transitioning? Did you go to a salon to have the relaxed hair cut?
