Congratulations! Public speaking can be one of the hardest things to do if you’re not completely comfortable with it. It’s a wonderful skill to have. =)
How to overcome my fear of public speaking
"Lots of low-pressure practice."
How I did it: As part of my job I speak three times a year before groups of new students. In addition to that, I have picked up the additional responsibility of giving monthly talks in front of groups.
The smaller sessions are good practice for me. I became more comfortable with the material I was presenting (same stuff each time) and am now able to take questions in stride. Most of the time no one else from my office is there watching me with a critical eye, but when they are I know they're rooting me on.
And hey, I'm not as bad as some people.
