How to have nothing in my house that I do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful
"absolutely worth doing"
How I did it: This is one of those things that you have to keep on top of, it seems that we get rid of a whole heap of things, of 'stuff', we feel great but it does tend to pile up again.
But it's good to be mindful I think. And often we will be looking at buying something and stop and ask ourselves do we really need more stuff - the answer more often than not is no.
I love my house. It's little and old and full of little quirky pieces, much loved books, a very loved husband, son, cat and new puppy. I look around and I feel happy. What more could I need or want?
Lessons & tips: set aside a weekend at least once every couple of months to clean and de clutter.
start small - start on a set of drawers for example, so you don't get overwhelmed.
pile everything in the middle of the room and move backwards, putting back what you truly want, where it truly belongs, and have a throw away pile, a give away pile and a pile of stuff to sell. It's pretty scary how much stuff you have. Particularly little pieces of scrap paper.
