How to graduate from college
How I did it: It took me six years to get through college since I was working, but I finally did it. I kept up in all of my classes and stayed organized, and I always knew when an assignment was due. I wasn't always the best at studying for a test, but I made sure I knew enough to get by and do a good job. I got all my core curriculum out of the way first.
Lessons & tips: Pick a major that speaks to your heart -- but also think about one in which you'll find a job! Go all the way to be the best in your field. Nursing and education are high-demand fields; feel out the area in which you expect to find a job and stay on top of things. Be smart -- what you do in college may become your career for the rest of your life. STAY ORGANIZED. Keep track of what's due when and to whom; get your work in on time, and be smart with your money. Student loans are not a sellout, but money is real, and you need to be smart with it from the first day of your freshman year to the day you walk across that stage and beyond. Get your FAFSA in as soon as you possibly can and keep track of all your important papers. Don't be lazy.
Resources: I lived by my planner -- even if you have a smartphone, it always helps to have something written to refer back to. Everything I needed to do went in my planner. Also, go to financial aid and talk to them about what you need and how to do it. It's your responsibility to stay on top of your financial situation and your degree requirements as well.
