How to couch Surf
How I did it: I had my first couchsurfing experience in Chile this summer. I had never met any other couch surfers and I had just joined the site probably 3 weeks before I met up with my surfer in La Serena. CouchSurfing is by far one of the best sites for travelers that are seeking the road less traveled, looking to save some money, wanting to meet locals, and looking to experience more than just the touristy crap. Thats like what? Killing 4 birds with one stone? If you are an open minded traveler or just a friendly person who is willing to open their doors to other travelers you should totally join couchsurfing! I can't wait to visit Chile again to see the great friends I've made down there, and to meet new couchsurfers! And if any of you guys are in Alanta, hit me up!
Lessons & tips: Be sure to read the references that others people wrote about them so you can get an idea of what they are like. You should probably send a few emails back and forth before expecting to stay at someone's place. Keep your mind and options open!!!
