"Humbling"
How I did it: I just did.
Registered last year for a 21k, but my bib said 42k. I THOUGHT I registered for a 42 and just couldn't remember, and I got the race kit the day before the event so it was too late (or too expensive) to change, so I thought, what the heck, just do it.
The longest LSD prior to this was a 10k. Yep, I was totally insane.
Lessons & tips: 1) It is more satisfying to complete a marathon with proper and sound training. I completed mine with a godawful time and after a long suffering torture.
2) Keep one foot forward, one at a time. this was the hardest race I ran mentally because I was severely underprepared but just thinking about keeping my foot forward one at a time was good enough. you will get there, trust me.
