How to back up my itunes
"This is ridiculously easy. Don't wait - just sit down for an hour and get it done and off your list."
How I did it: I was worried this would be an obscenely long and difficult project considering that my computer is overworked and slow to accomplish anything, and I have over 1400 songs in my library, but the truth is it was incredibly simple and took about an hour, most of which I actually spent doing other things until the computer asked me for another CD. I'll tell you how I did it below.
Lessons & tips:
- Get some blank CDs. For my library of over 1400 songs it required about a dozen CDs.
- go to iTunes and click File
- select Library
- click Back Up to Disc
- select the check box that basically tells it to back up everything
- hand it one CD after another until it's done
- then, get on with your life like nothing ever happened, because really it didn't - you just don't have to worry about losing your iTunes content if your computer loses its mind
- back up new content you've added every now and then - same process except you click the option in the dialogue box that tells it to just back up the stuff that's been added since the last backup
