How to make my own iced coffee
"So easy it's hard to believe they can charge $3 for it. Really. It's that easy. I mean it. Must I really type more to save it? Jeez."
How I did it: Found a recipe online (the New York Times article I referenced in my first post). Followed it. It's perfect. There's not much more to say about it, despite 43things insisting I say more.
Lessons & tips: Start with coffee you like. I've been buying peace coffee and grinding it on "course" at the store. My last batch was $6, and I'll probably drink 15 to 20 iced coffees from it.
I let mine sit for 12 hours or so, run it through a wire strainer, then run it through my coffee pot (not turning it on, just pouring it into the filter to catch all the silt). Then I store it back in the brewing jar and use half of it for my travel mug (add cream, ice cubes to 3/4 of the travel mug, and top off with water)
Resources: NY Times article. It's really that simple.
