How I did it: It was surprising difficult at first to make my body move like a belly dancer’s. I thought I would have a leg up with all my dance experience and “natural ability.” Hah! The experience definitely humbled me! But after a semester of classes I have started to really get the hang of a lot of the moves, and I think I might just take an intermediate class next semester!

Lessons & tips: It just takes some persistence, and lots of practice – my teacher said you should practice whenever you can- waiting for the microwave, in the elevator, etc., and I did! It really helps! And its much more fun now that I can actually “feel it”- do it without trying to concentrate like I’m doing working problems in nuclear physics. Yay belly dance! Its so fun :)

Resources: My university's gym just happened to have a class with a really good price for students! So if you go to college somewhere and they have a class, its definitely the place to try it!
