How I did it: Honestly, a couple of years ago, I agreed to help someone with a play they were writing, just because I felt I had the skill-base to give him a leg-up in the process. I also put together some readings of it, and helped him find a cast for it when he produced it.
At the time, I couldn't act in it, though, as I was already cast in a different show.
So, he decides he wants to get a film made out of a screenplay he'll write. He somehow (I have no idea how) gets a few people from a local Hungarian Television company to produce it and send it out to film festivals, once completed. So it's an English film, made to have Hungarian subtitles.
Anyway, I asked if he had any roles I could fill (without being paid, mind), and ended up being the timid lawyer for a Russian mob boss. Yeah. Awesome.
Lessons & tips: Do good things for good people, and who knows what will emerge. :)
