How to oil paint
"Happy little clouds, just like Bob Ross!"
How I did it: I had been watching Bob Ross on tv for years, and have always wanted to learn how to oil paint - but specifically in his style, as it is designed for beginners. Oil painting itself seemed so daunting so I wanted a method that could be easily learned. I was in Hobby Lobby with my mom and saw that classes were being offered, so I signed up on the website and waited for the class. I bought all the required supplies and got my dad to join and come with me. We went, we painted, we did it!
Lessons & tips:
- Make sure you stock up coupons like crazy because this would've cost me over $200 for all the supplies for one person. But with coupons I managed to bring it to $100, and if you join a class, you could share supplies with another person if you don't want to buy two sets.
- Definitely TAKE A CLASS. It is worth the $35 or whatever you will pay! You will be in a learning environment, and meet new people doing the same thing you are. Plus, you will learn how to fix mistakes (something you will not learn from watching a tv show).
- Join the class with someone you know if you are timid, it will give you such joy to paint with a friend or family member, and lots of memories to talk about afterward (not to mention paintings to compare!)
