How to go to Austin City Limits
How I did it: bought ticket online when they were first available in april(?). you can google the exact date, and they don't release the lineup until a few months after that. you're gambling that it will be a good one. if you buy a ticket and don't like the lineup you can sell your ticket on ebay or craigslist. the sooner you sell it the more you'll probably get for it. $180 tickets were going for about $100 from scaplers the day of. people will only buy a wristband or an actual ticket. a printout of a ticket is not enough. if you do still plan to attend and are using a printout you can pick up a wristband the week before at zilker park box offices.
paid way too much for parking, took shuttle to park and back.
Lessons & tips: travel light. bring money for food and water and beer. sunscreen, cell phone, arrive early to stages of bands you really want to see or you'll be stuck in the back. people don't like it when you try to break through a crowd and they've been waiting there forever. the line for the ride back to the shuttle after the final show each night is super long (it took me a total of two hours to get 15 miles home)...so be patient. say thanks to your bus driver, their day is going to be far worse than yours.
it's still, at heart, a giant hippie fest. so recycle and if you're bringing kids, know that there will be weed there. on the contrary, if you smoke, try not to do it around children.
Resources: they give you a book that has a map and schedules in it. take one :)
