How I did it: After five years with no dog, it was time to consider another forever friend. It took lots of convincing, but once I brought Rocket home, we knew she was the right puppy for us. Help homeless pets! Adopt one today!

Lessons & tips: Take your time. Pets are not disposable. Go in knowing that you will have this pet for at least ten years. Take time to bond with the animal. Don't choose the animal. Let the animal choose you!

After my darling rough collie had to be put down in February, I was crying non stop, till Hubby could take it no more, and we went to the shelter. We both fell in love with the Collie X GSD. What a find for all of us. He is super! I still miss Goldie, but Toffee has lifted my spirit, and I do not feel like crying all the time about my girl anymore. I just have fond memories of her that makes me smile. I don’t think i can go 5 weeks without a dog, never mind 5 years! I am very pleased for all of you for getting a pup.
