How to go to SXSW
"I finally made the first trip in 2007 and it was worth every penny my company paid to send me."
How I did it: As the lead graphic designer for a local, Austin software company, it wasn't much of a stretch to get them to foot the bill. This conference is actually quite cost-prohibitive for common individuals.
Lessons & tips: The Interactive Conference is really just for networking, I've found (after 2 rounds). Yes, there are some great sessions here and there, but mostly, it makes available all those net stars you follow on a daily basis and have heard so much about. I've made fast friends as well as crucial contacts in the industry just for being present.
