How I did it: I used a low-carb diet, and the weight has stayed off for eight months now. I recommend the diet, but don't forget to eat your veggies!
I didn't use any specific fad diet, just kept my carbs to a minimum and tried to eat mostly veggies. I added fruits back in later.
I can eat a lot of fat in a day, which keeps me full and tastes good to me. I'd say give this diet a real try before you knock it. Low carb has a terrible reputation, but I don't think it's deserved.
Lessons & tips: People will disparage the diet pretty constantly. I just remind them that, no matter what, I'm healthier now than I was when I was 35 lb heavier.
