How to make a complete list of all my debt and come up with a plan to pay it off!
"It feels so good just to know exactly where I'm at financially and what it will take to pay it off! The fear is always worse than the reality! "
How I did it: I just saved all of the dreaded collections bills and then made a list and prioritized them! I put the smaller amounts that I could easily pay off at the top because it will feel good to get them checked off!!! Then the couple of personal debts I have. and then I put the few that have already showed up on my credit report, (I had a report from when I tried to rent an apartment) which were the non-medical bills (I learned that, being uninsured, most of my debt is medical).
I then figured out how much I would need to save from my checks to start to pay it off!!
It's a little daunting, but it feels so much better to know instead of the anxious worrying of how bad it could be. One less thing to think about!
Lessons & tips: Once it's all written down and prioritized, focus just one at a time so it's less daunting, don't focus on the whole number!! and let yourself feel accomplished for each one you start to pay off so you don't get discouraged!!!
It's going to take chipping away at it little by little!! You won't be able to pay it off all at once, so every little bit is one step closer to being debt free!!!
