He’s adorable! Reminds me a bit of Gobolino, the witches’ cat :P
How I did it: A girl I knew had to "get rid" of her 3 months old cat because she was moving. Since my housemate is not coming back until September, I didn't think about adopting a cat just yet. However, the girl contacted me, probably knowing that I couldn't say no. I thought about just going over there and having a look, probably not liking the cat anyway, but I fell in love. I persuaded my housemate via e-mail :) I've had him now for 4 days and am not regretting it at all. When he miauws or gets hyperactive I slightly worry, but when he looks at me with those cute little eyes... it's love!
Lessons & tips: First of all you need to make sure you have what it takes: a place which is large enough for a cat to do his/her thing. Here he can't go outside but that's not a problem: cats can get used to being inside (mine has never gone outside). Just make sure you have solutions in case you need to go away for a while, and ideally a housemate who can feed him/her when you're not there for a day or two. The second thing is to find a cat that "clicks"... and that's it!
Resources: I checked out a forum about cats to find out if it was OK to
have a cat inside, what to feed him and other basic things. Just by reading
through it I've learnt so much and realised I could provide a home for this
sweet kitty cat :)

I love his wee white toes! Sounds like you covered all the bases and he looks like he’s claimed you and your home for his own, lol! Enjoy and give him a cuddle from your 43Things people!
Oh my goood, he is sooo cute!! look at his eyes, he is just so adorable!! and he’s black! i have 3 cats and they’re all black: 1 girl and 2 boys :)) luna (the girl) is an indoor cat. but i love them all so much i CANNOT imagine my life without them (sounds cheesy i kno’) but you’ll understand this soon enough :D take care of him and give him a kiss from me!
Haha, glad to read this :) As I’m typing, little Oellie is lying on my lap – alternating purring with sleeping!

Congratulations on the new family member! While you mentioned getting the basics off of forums you might want to check out the ASPCA website, too. They have a lot of information that you may not think to look up (such as a list of 17 common plants that are poisonous to animal companions, such as lilies) and you can sign up to have them text you various helpful tips and reminders.
I don’t know where you live, but if you live somewhere that is more likely to have a natural disaster you should also check out ARF’s Emergency Pet Preparedness article (http://www.arf.net/resources/emergency-pet/). It’ll help you understand everything you’ll need to know and have ready in order to ensure your kitty makes it through.
Good luck!
