How to practice Pilates
How I did it: I joined in with the patients at the hospital and worked out with them by going along with the Pilates DVD.
If you ask me, I would rather do a more thorough workout with the rehab specialists at the hospital or take an actual Pilates class at a local gym. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a Pilates class near me that would fit my schedule. I guess I would have to keep on looking. In the meantime, DVDs are awesome. I got my heart pumping!
(This was my 2010 resolution, so I'm glad I completed this!)
Lessons & tips: 1. Warm up your muscles. Yoga stretches are helpful.
2. Prepare to move around a lot using all muscle groups.
3. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
4. Take a Pilates class if you want to.
5. Or, if you can't go to a gym, rent or purchase Pilates DVDs.
6. Keep at it! Set aside some time in your schedule throughout the week to practice it. Variety in your exercise regimen is key to having a healthy and fit body.
Pilates provides a great cardio workout!
