How to mail a stranger $20 by thrillkisser

"I tried to make it as random as possible."

How I did it:

First I got out the phone book.
Then, I went to http://www.random.org/strings/ and put in these criteria: 
1 string with a length of 3 (that's the range of the white pages in the phone book).

I got 006... I didn't like that one, but that's the beauty of random.
But, I lucked out since the very front had some businesses.
So, I got another random number.
This time: 331.

Page 331 had names in the range of LOM-LOP.
I tried using a string again... only using letters. But, since there's no way to specify the string start with LO... it was tedious.

So, instead I did it the fun way: shut my eyes, swirled my extended finger around, and randomly placed it.
The first one I landed on, I can seriously not believe this, was the parents of someone I went to highschool with!
Really? Wow. Since I have met them before and knew them I didn't choose them.
I suppose I should have since it was random and going to be anonymous, but whatever. It's still my goal. :)

So, again, eyes shut and finger extended. 
Better luck this time. 
Found my recipient and typed them up a letter. 
I want to post it here, but since maybe they'll search for it, I won't. It's not likely, but a possibility. 

After work, I went to the post office and mailed it off. :)
I hope they enjoy this as much as I do! 

Funny note: I wanted to keep a memento of this... so I put the letter, the addressed envelope, and the $20 bill on the copier and "made a copy".
But, then I get a message saying "Copy Cancelled". The copy comes out with the address showing but stopping when it reached the cash.
Ha! So you really can't copy money. hee. Darn smart machine!

Lessons & tips:

  • Provide a small note so they are not creeped out
  • Follow the rules of random, but remember it's still your goal and $20 so send it to who you want 
  • Use a security envelope so no one can see there's cash in it

thank you, i think i will have to use your concept and deliver love in that sense…

I always enjoyed brigning Gifts & Flowers… (i think we lost that in society) if not the physical, at least the thought, for that thought could mean so much….

And, I agree, if we all were just a little more giving everyone would be better off.
