How I did it: I'm a science major (chemistry), which I think tends to drive down a lot of people's GPAs.  The semester I made Dean's List, though, I was taking some less sciencey classes, and that really helped.  I still got a B in both of my chem lecture courses, but I got As in 2 art history classes, a chem lab, and another chem class.

Lessons & tips: If you're in the sciences, try taking a humanities class.  The grading is more subjective, but it's often pretty easy.  Art history is a good way to start, because there's a lot of straight memorization involved.
