How to lose weight
How I did it: Food:
- less sugar (almost no processed sugar)
- less bread/pasta/wheat etc
- more fruit / veggies
- less quantity of food
- no unhealthy snacks after 8 pm
- lots of drinking (tea, Aquarius, Nestea, water)
- less milk products
But I did not technically give up anything, I occasionally ate ice cream, chocolate, chips, fried eggs, milkshakes etc.
Exercise:
- swimming often (3-4 times/week)
- walking more
- believe it or not, more housework
General lifestyle:
- quit work and started enjoying life!
- family time
- lots of self-massage on problematic areas (thighs, buttocks), this is important so there is no sagging skin, and stretch marks, later, as well as the actual benefit of improved circulation), every day with natural oils (musk rose, horse chestnut...)
- paid attention to posture, walking habits, sleeping habits, etc
- "Time for myself" : reading, writing, meditating, enjoying nature
Medicine / Health supplements:
I took no conventional medicine, but I did speed up the weight loss process (not fully intentionally) by taking the following health supplements:
- herbal infusions and herbal tablets to detox
- Omega 3 to improve circulation and general body metabolism
- Green Tea

Lessons & tips: 1. Don't get obsessed. The changes you need are more mental than physical - concentrating too hard will make you miss your goal, or reach it too fast, only to "fall back".
2. Each person is different, and has a different reason for being overweight (if indeed you are overweight). Learn to watch yourself (from a detached point of view), see what you eat, how you move, how you live, see what changes you can make to live a happier life, not just to lose weight. Listen to your body, you will hear it respond to a healthy lifestyle, and this is already positive feedback that will make you happy, and help you complete your goal.
3. Enjoy yourself. Of course self control may be hard sometimes, but don't FORCE yourself to do painful exercise, or be "hungry", and don't give up small pleasures (like a little piece of chocolate, etc) unless it is dangerous for you.
4. Do some research on healthy lifestyle, but don't believe everything you read or hear or see. There is no miracle cure, only a healthy, balanced life (not even just healthy, balanced diet) can get you where you want to go.
5. Find YOUR favourite healthy food, and healthy exercise. Find out what's the vegetable or fruit you love to eat, and help yourself, find out what sport tickles your fancy (outdoor? indoor? group?). Even if it's light, e.g. yoga, pilates, ballroom dancing, walking, do it, and enjoy it.
6. Be happy. Love yourself. Thank your body for putting up with your demands, cravings, insecurities, and ask its help in this mission. Promise to listen to it, treat it like a friend who's had some tough times, and go through this change together.
7. Don't stress if you don't get as far as you'd like - remember, don't take any particular weight, size, body type, etc as your ideal - you just have to find the best "you" you can be, where you look and feel healthy.
Good luck! My final tip is, that this is a reshaping of the relationship between you, and your body, that has nothing to do with other people, most likely, you are not in touch with your body and things have gone out of control. Take your time to listen to it, and find out what makes it tick, and what makes it sick. Both of you will be happier, I promise.
