How I did it: Because this class was taught so well, I was able to fall back on some not so great study habits and still pull this goal off.  It was mostly lecture based, so I made sure to attend as many classes as I could (missed only a handful), and then reviewed the notes a few days prior to the test with a friend and fellow classmate. 

Lessons & tips: Having a study buddy definitely helps, especially if you're the competitive type.
