"Makes you feel happier and more energetic!"
How I did it: I actually eat quite healthy most of the time and never buy junk food, but if someone offers me tasty food, I cannot refuse it even if it is unhealthy. Therefore, when there is less opportunity to be in the vicinity of junk food, there is also a smaller possibility that I will consume any junk food.
I had problems with portion control when I get really hungry or stressed out from schoolwork, and in winter when it's really cold I get huge chocolate cravings. So, after I got less stressed and depressed during the summer and finally had the time and energy to take care of myself, I found I had better control of my cravings and don't feel like eating anything most of the time. It came naturally and now I'm used to not eating unhealthy food.
Lessons & tips: 1. De-stress yourself and if you're depressed, listen to music or take walks in nature (really helps!).
2. Throw all junk food out of the house.
3. Go shopping on a full stomach.
4. Avoid eating buffets.
5. Don't eat while doing something else.
6. Order smaller servings, esp. of food containing lots of carbs.
7. Don't completely deprive yourself of food you like or you'll go crazy and binge. Rather, use portion control.
