How to buy a great package of garden stuff for my little sister
How I did it: I wanted to get my sister a month-divided seed box for her wedding, however, all designs I could find were too mumsy, twee or practical. She's a high glamour gardener and needs something pretty.
So, I bought a largish gift box from Paperchase, and put a card divider into it so I could put seeds on one side and bits and bobs in the other. I made month dividers from card index dividers and letraset (!) and obtained seeds that could be planted every month of the year and a dibber and some plant labels and bits and bobs, filled out the rest of the space with a couple of bags of bulbs...
and put a bow on it.
Lessons & tips:
- If you collect the bits over a period of time it feels less expensive
- Find a good seed planting calendar to make sure you get something for every month of the year
- Including some seeds collected from your own garden is a nice touch
