Great information, thank you! I really want to get mine pierced too, I’m just not brave enough yet!
How to get my nose pierced.
How I did it: I’ve wanted to get my nose pierced ever since I was 13 years old. I loved the look of a diamond stud sparkling to accentuate the face. I remember putting my smallest hoop earring on my nostril pretending it was a piercing and wishing that it was real.
All these years later, as of today, it finally IS real! After much research, I decided to go to one of the best and most reputable places in NYC called ” New York Adorned.” I heard great reviews and decided that the higher price would be worth it, since it’s a permanent hole in my body. I ended up getting pierced by one of the shop’s most sought-after piercers.
I was a little nervous at first because a lot of people said that it’s one of the most painful piercings to get. I had psyched myself out by watching videos on YouTube of girls getting their noses pierced and their eyes watering, their brows crinkling, and them grunting in pain. But my piercer was so calm and put all my fears to rest. I laid down on the examining table and tried my hardest to focus on my breathing (as I’ve learned in yoga). It wasn’t easy. My piercer started talking to me and as I opened my mouth to answer back, BAM he stuck the needle through my nose and that glorious diamond stud that I’ve yearned for was finally in place.
But now since I’m sure most of you are curious about the pain, I’ll tell you my experience. It was NOT bad at all. Honestly. It felt like a bee sting that was prolonged by 2 seconds. If anything, it felt strange because suddenly there was a metal bar in my nostril. I don’t think I even winced. I’ve gotten my belly pierced, my ears pierced, and a tattoo done and getting my nose pierced didn’t stand out as being particularly painful. If I had to go back and do it again, I would. But hopefully all goes well with this one and I won’t have to!
So if you’ve thought it over, know you want it for sure, and have researched a reputable place to get it done, go for it! Also make sure to listen to your piercer when he/she tells you about aftercare since it’s VERY important – as I’m sure you all know! =)
Happy piercing!
Lessons & tips: Non-idozided sea salt for daily cleansings.
Anti-bacterial, fragrance-free soap for daily washings.
A bandaid to cover it while you're sleeping, so it doesn't get irritated, knocked out, or come in contact with bacteria.
Avoid alcohol and caffeine, since they tend to slow down healing.
Take Vitamins C and E to aid in healing.
Get it done with a needle instead of a piercing gun, since the gun isn't sterile and can cause damages to the nose cartilage.
Do plenty of research and go to a reputable piercing place to get it done.
