Another cover with me
This one was for a home shopping mag called Catalog House. I’m wearing something like a snuggy
How I did it: Living in Japan, and being familiar with the acting and modeling business, I acquired agents who in turn found me auditions. On a number of occasions the audition called for a shot on the cover of a magazine. Each time, the shot for the cover required a different look and emotion. The costume, of course, helps to get into the mood (I suppose the director had something to do with it). These magazines were used for months, so I got a lot of exposure. The clients were happy with my work and asked me back for other cover shots.
Lessons & tips: Get an agent. Have a good portfolio that shows you in different moods. Be outgoing and friendly. Smile. Wearing the appropriate clothes to an audition is smart. Once at an audition for a cowboy, I wore cowboy boots. The others with me in the waiting room joked about my boots and laughed at me. I got the part.
Resources: Be familiar with the magazine in question. Look at past covers. Grill your agent as to who might be there and exactly what they're looking for. Ask model friends about the director and casting agent. Word of mouth is a good help
