How to buy some rain gear
How I did it: It's all about keeping yourself comfortable enough to keep riding in the rain. That mainly means keeping warm and the cold rain out.
To really get it right will cost a fair amount of money. A number of items will need to be bought for the bike, but even more in terms of clothing.
For the bike, it's good to have some tires at least 25c or wider so that there is enough traction in the rain. Then both front and rear fenders need to be installed. Buddy flaps do help too.
For clothing, waterproof is key. To truly feel comfortable in the rain, don't wear anything short of waterproof. This includes booties, pants, gloves, a nice rain jacket, and some kind of head protection.
Then to truly know if that works, you have to be able to go for a ride for longer than an hour in the rain and still feel fine.
Lessons & tips: Insist on waterproof clothing.
Resources: Pearl izumi rain jacket and bib pants, neoprone booties , endura cordura gloves and long hair for the winter.
