How to volunteer

How I did it:
First, I thought about the sort of volunteering I'd like to do and decided that I wanted to do some kind of weekly tutoring or similar educational activity.
Then, I surfed around on volunteermatch.org and a local volunteer center's website to find organizations in need of tutors.
I ended up locating a local nonprofit that tutors adults who plan on taking the GED exam. After a quick evening training session, I was able to start going in every week!
Lessons & tips: Figure out what you'd be most excited to help out with-- this makes it so much easier to stick with your commitment!
