"Homemade cookies are always better than store bought."
How I did it: I decided to make the switch to all homemade cookies after hearing Michael Pollen speak about how easy it is for us to get unhealthy foods and after thinking about all the preservatives in packaged foods, but being unwilling to stop having treats.
Sometimes we ran out of cookies, but then we just didn't have any. Which was OK too.
Lessons & tips:
- If you're going to make cookies regularly, invest in a few silpat mats. They make the whole cooking process so much easier.
- If you have an ancient unreliable oven, you can help stabilize the temperature by keeping a pizza stone at the bottom.
- Change your spices once a year or your cinnamon will become a sad ghost of its former self.
