How to get down to 9 stone
"That last half-stone took quite a while but informed eating, trying to be active, and willpower eventually prevailed."
How I did it:
- Nutrition research
- Exercise research
- Vegetarian diet
- (mostly) sticking to an exercise routine
- AVOIDING SUGAR!!!!
Lessons & tips:
- Don't count calories. Its ok to take notice of the calorie count you consume for informational purposes, however ideally you want your brain and body's natural instincts to tell you how much is enough. Yes, weight can be dropped short term by calorie restriction, but you also have the long-term, not to mention your health, to consider as well.
- Do count the types of calories. A calorie is just a calorie is just not true.
- Don't simply jump on the band wagon for the latest trendy diet.
- Do the research for yourself (nutritional & physical). With an open mind be sure to research the opposition to any beliefs you find as well. Navigate more towards scientifically proven theories through valid experiments rather than old-wives tales, assumptions, and isolated anecdotal evidence.
- Exercise is required BUT overdoing it is not.
- Exercise != gym. It maybe cliche but simply adopting some day to day changes (stairs instead of elevator, take a walk at lunch, wake up with a few push-ups, etc...) really does help.
- Willpower.
